Nissan Qashqai Is One of the Most Reliable Cars in Germany
A recent German Automobile Association (ADAC) survey saw Nissan’s Qashqai placing third in the “Gelber Engel” (Yellow Angel) 2011 award ranking. The position it occupied also makes it Germany’s favorite imported car from the perspective of its reliability.
“This important award shows why QASHQAI has become such a sales success across Europe. It recognises the brilliance of the design and acknowledges the exceptional build quality that is engineered into all cars built at our plant in Sunderland, UK, ”says Simon Thomas, senior vice president, Nissan Europe.
In order to reach a final verdict ADAC studies the statistics of more than two million breakdowns and asks a considerable number of motorists how satisfied they are with both their car and the level of service received from dealers.
“The Gelber Engel award is the quality benchmark for new and nearly new cars and we are delighted Qashqai has been recognised in this way,” the Nissan VP also stated.
Only vehicles aged three years old or younger are included in the ADAC survey, in order to exclude breakdowns caused by poor maintenance rather than inherent faults with factory construction. The survey is also limited to vehicles with significant sales, to ensure a relevant result. For the 2011 award, some 150 models were investigated.
The Qashqai’s 3rd place result places it higher in the rankings than cars like the BMW 3-Series, Porsche Boxster and Mercedes-Benz SLK. The small SUV was designed and engineered largely in Europe, by teams at Nissan Design Europe and Nissan Technical Centre Europe. It is manufactured in the UK by Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK.
